For the traditional 提亲, the groom's parents would go to the bride's place to ask for the bride's hand. They would only start picking dates for the wedding after both parents are agreeable to the marriage. These days, nobody really follow through the sequence because everything is already messed up in the current society. How many would 提亲 before getting a BTO flat these days? Everything is too competitive in Singapore whether it is to get married on auspicious dates or to book the wedding venue early before the prices hike. For us, we already picked our wedding date, booked the venue earlier this year before going through the tradition of the parents formal meeting. Meeting the parents wasn't nerve wrecking for us since they already established a mutual friendship among themselves some long time back. Instead of the traditional way, we went for a decent dinner at Yum Cha Serangoon Gardens!
Diligently documenting the nearly insignificant details of the wedding preparations so I would have something to look back at when the wedding is over. Its not even often that we splurge on a family dinner on normal days. So I'm really thankful that the future in laws were willing to splurge on this simple dinner affair. Anyway, the food tasted great! Other than the duck dish which looked and tasted meh, everything else were satisfying.
On a serious note - We discussed tables, 过大礼 & 安床 dates and that was about it. We left the rest for another time, when the date draws closer. Sigh, not like a wedding has so much to do but I honestly have so much going on in my head. Apart from the big day preps, I also have itineraries to churn out, classes to attend, appointments to meet and that is all besides my personal life. On days that I'm free, I'd hang out with the friends and get home too exhausted to do anything. And that is how a week will get by in a blink of an eye. I need a break, I need to travel soon.
love, bella
