When I first asked Bryan about the theme he wants for his birthday , he brushed me off with a -.- face and said , " Themes are for girls . I'm a guy . Guys do not have birthday themes . " It was only the aftermath of the party that struck me the Yolo theme actually fitted the party perfectly . Bryan taught me that YOLO means - You Only Live Once . You'll see why , later .
Anyway , Its been 2 weeks after the party but I'm still suffering from Capella withdrawal symptoms . Constantly going into a luxury getaway daze mode did not help me in my daily workload at all . Bryan's 21st party was way beyond luxurious . I could have put in more effort to decorate the place to look more like a party but the boyfriend refused . He thought balloons/decorations are stupid & girly so all I got for him was a helium balloon with "21" which got everyone telling me that it was too small . You see , now it becomes the girlfriend's problem when the balloon is too small , but nobody went up to him to comment on that small balloon . #whatthehell
The beautiful venue was really spacious and had so many cosy corners for different clique of friends to hang out comfortably . The ideal way of a house party & one of my concerns checked . Dont even get me started on the balcony . The Balcony is twice or maybe three times the size of my bedroom . Balcony view was the South China sea/beach , I cant remember . Its just beautiful , the way I like it . Withdrawal symptoms again , sigh .
Here's one issue , Bryan was inviting his friends via Facebook events and he happily went clicking away till the invited list was approx 60 guests . I was like , WHAT ? 60?! He said , " Dont Panic . Not everybody will turn up . " Yea , I had to agree . What are the odds that all 60 friends are free and actually made the effort to travel to Sentosa just for your birthday . I wouldn't even say 50% of the people would , considering the fact that Capella is not even convenient to locate / enter . So I was fussing on the food catering and we agreed on catering for 25pax + ordering 10 Large pizzas . Sure , more than enough for at least 40 pax unless they are gluttons . Dang , it was 6pm and everybody turned up , on time . I'm impressed , very . I think total guests count that night was approx 50 . Thankful for the ample space - every corner was crowded , even the laundry room wtf ( & wtf again for having a laundry room -.- ) .
I've never seen a birthday party "on time" before and finally I did . When you see birthday invites with - Cake cutting : 9.30pm . Most of the time , it never happens . Somehow or rather , it gets dragged at least 1/2hr late . Bryan successfully cut his cake at 9.30pm sharp and by then , many of his army friends were already almost knocked out by alcohol . So it was group photos with " spot the drunk faces " inserted.
On a side note : I was expecting his cake to taste too sweet for everybody's liking with so much fondant but many actually commented that it was yummy ! Bryan ask why I chose red velvet x oreo buttercream flavor , do I even have to explain myself ? Ok , kidding . Apparently the lady specializes in that particular flavor . Oh ! And the cake was so huge , we were expecting a huge part of leftovers and what not but it was wiped out by the 50 glutton guests including me so yeah , money well spent .
The rest of the night was mystery , to those who got drunk and had no idea what happened . The whole time I was running around looking for the damn boyfriend because everyone that walk past me would be asking for him . And because there is 3 bedrooms & 2 levels and many hiding spots , I had a really hard time looking for the boyfriend and barging into rooms . I like that his friends were all so nice , I seriously mean all . They were friendly , some over friendly , some I didn't have got the chance to apologize for accidentally yelling at them . Like , there was this Indian friend of his making tea in a plastic cup so I yelled at him and made him take a tea cup . HAHAHA . This is just me , so me that I go into panic mode very often . Anyway , I made friends and I think all of his friends are my friends now , so proud of myself to have made 30 new friends in a night . Thats a record ! Initially , it was only 2 clique that was staying over for the night which turned out to be everybody staying over for the night . So I was pretty much entertained by his friends till dawn and was officially knocked out in fatigue at 7am .
Found ourselves sipping champagne at 10 in the morning after short hours of shut eye . Bryan deserves to pop a champagne for his 21st right ? Such indulgence we had that weekend and oh , the staffs kindly extended our check-out timing till 2pm . Luxury time extended !!!
Okay so this all explains why his birthday theme should be Yolo - because this penthouse is the ultimate luxury we all live in ( most probably ) once and his birthday is one helluva awesome party and never will Bryan be that young 21st again . Hehehe , sounds legit.
